Basic training in protecting human subjects
Basic Training in Protecting Human Subjects is
an example of asynchronous e-learning.
Context
This course was built for the VA Office of Research and Development in response to an emergency
stand-down.
Constraints
Due to a Congressional mandate, human-subject testing was halted until all 20,000 doctors, nurses, and administrators were re-certified. This course was designed, built, tested, and delivered in 13 days with a 5-person team.
Design notes
Inter-module navigation is provided through the Menu button. If learners wish
to find and review a particular page in the course, they can find it by clicking
the Contents button. Very few pages scroll. This was to ensure that learners did not miss crucial information.
How to view
Although there is no longer a stand down, this course is is still available on the Employee Education System and has been recently updated to include additional modules.
